The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated annually on February 11th. This day was established in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness about the need to eliminate gender inequality in the fields of science and technology.

The goal of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is to support women and girls who are involved in scientific activities, as well as to encourage greater participation of women in scientific and technical fields, where they are traditionally underrepresented.

Some key aspects of the celebration
Promoting equality in science. One of the main goals of this day is to eliminate the barriers women face in scientific fields and create conditions for their more active participation in scientific research and development.
Acknowledging the contribution of women to science. This day also serves as a reminder of the contributions women have made to the development of scientific discoveries, technologies, and innovations.
Education and mentorship. The day promotes education and mentorship by encouraging girls and women to pursue careers in science and engineering.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is an important step in global efforts to ensure equality and support scientific achievements regardless of gender.
